Stop over reaching, stop over committing to the pull, reduce large over powerful movements that cause turbulence - they cause drag and limit your distance per stroke.

Efficiency is a key foundation. We revise the basics of head position, arm entry and rotation, then expand on the idea of calm, precise, quiet movements; focus on recovery and entry NOT powerful pulling, whole stroke timing.... that shows how we naturally lengthen the stroke, by holding a streamlined position (not over reaching) until the fingers tips of the opposite 'entering arm' are in the water.
